" One of my favourite subjects in my formative years  was writing stories etc. In later years I wrote a regular monthly article for an ex-serviceman’s magazine called ‘The Griff’. I also wrote numerous letters and short stories, which I sent to various  local and National magazines. Some published, many not, so it was only natural that I should attempt a biography. But I must say that this work is at the instigation of my dear wife Jessie, and also Doug  Osborne, my good friend in Australia.

In common with most people in their seventies, memories and details of events and places are sometimes clouded with the passing of time!  However,  I shall make this as accurate as possible, describing the events as they actually  happened. After all...what’s the use of doing an Autobiography if it is filled with falsehoods?"
